WhyQuit's Fifth Anniversary

July 15, 1999 - July 15, 2004

Founded on July 15, 1999 as a permanent commercial-free home for Bryan's message, WhyQuit sought to dispel the myth that smoking nicotine only harmed old smokers.

Today our mission has broadened a little. Besides dispelling the harm myth, we have set out to dispel the myths that quitting is near impossible and that quitting can only be accomplished by pharmaceutical intervention.

During these past five years WhyQuit has evolved into a premier nicotine dependency recovery forum receiving over one million hits a month. Today it serves as a beacon to people around the world in understanding the importance of never starting to smoke, the addictive nature of nicotine, the dangers posed by smoking, how to quit, how to stay free once you have quit, and is home to serious peer support.

On this special day we give thanks to our roots -- to Bryan and Bobbie, to Sean and his mother, to Noni and her brother John, and to Kim, who left us on June 23rd, and her loving sister Kelly. May their messages continue to foster freedom and live on in nicotine-free hearts and minds. We also give thanks to all who have contributed to helping this all-volunteer forum realize its potential.

There's only one rule - just one day at a time Never Take Another Puff!
