Today is 4 years since I quit. It’s the best thing I’ve done for myself. Mixed feelings today as my husband would have been 68 today but he passed away aged 53 from lung cancer. I mention this because even after I saw what smoking does to you it still took another 10 years before I found Turkeyville and the support to quit. It shows just how addictive nicotine is and the importance to never take another puff x

I quit a while ago and honestly not sure if it's two or three or four years now.. I can't believe something so huge and monumental in my life is barely a blip on my radar now... I remember how hard it was at first and how Joel and this forum of like minded people, and a buttload of personal strength made it doable.

Don't give up. I know it is cliche but if I can you can. Here's to you and having a quit so strong you can't ever remember doing. I didn't believe. Now I do and I believe in all of you past present and future.

I have been quit now for 5 years. Best thing I ever did. Reflecting as I sit by my mom's bedside so she is not alone in her final days. Late stage copd and stage 4 lung cancer. Takes you quick, but not quick enough. Please hold your quit. Protect it. It is a myth that you need to fail or that it is so hard to do. This moment in time is just that, a moment. Godspeed.

Hard to believe but I have made it to 8 years and five days without the use of tobacco. From a two pack a day addict to a non-smoker, cold trukey. I will not smoke now, maybe tomorrow but not today. Keeping it all on the outside.

One year!

One year ago I was determined and feeling all kinds of feelings about quitting. Now I’ve been nicotine free this whole time and couldn’t be happier. I’m taking myself out to lunch today…! NTAP! It works!!!

I was not able to post my 5 year anniversary of quitting on June 7th. Want to know why? Because I was hiking in the Rocky Mountains!

5 years ago I was in a state of constant acute bronchitus. I could not even walk from one end of the house to the other. The doctor told me by year end I'd be on an oxygen tank. I still remember saying "are you kidding" and he saying very calmly "Mrs. Hughes where did you think you were headed after 50 years smoking."

I found this group, Turkeyville, read people's posts and Joel's writings and then took the plunge and quit. It was the best decision I have ever made and every day I thank those of you who encouraged me, guided me and were there during a crisis.

To those of you starting out wondering if you can do it, yes you can. To those of you wondering if it is worth it? Yes it is. I walked in the Rockies, 7400 feet high where air is 25% thinner. I owe it to quitting smoking. NTAP.

On My birthday, June 2nd, I said goodbye to my dad. He was 66 years old and had been diagnosed with lung cancer 2 years and 7 months ago. Today, I have been smoke free for 1 year, 2 months and 21 days.

It took watching my dad decline for over a year before I realized smoking can no longer be an option for me and my family. The pain and struggles my dad and my family experienced was something I could have never imagined. My dad was a smoker all of his life and nicotine has scarred my family. Remember why you quit. Never take another puff!

I am nicotine free 3 years today! I chose this day to quit because my dad died of COPD caused from smoking 9 years ago today.

I feel good that I’m not smoking. And the amount of stress I have been under has been crazy.

I smoked for about 30 years or more. And smoked 2 packs a day. I was scared of not being able to quit. But I stuck through it. I made it. And so can you! Trust me, it’s worth it!

I also quit smoking with two other smokers in the house. So believe me when I say, if I can quit, so can anyone! It’s is very doable as long as you remember the #1 rule: NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF AND KEEP ALL NICOTINE ON THE OUTSIDE.

I am proud of my 3 years. And I can’t wait to say it’s been 30 years! Take care everyone. And NTAP. em love

No nic for 7 years, one hour. These days I'm shocked when I see a smoker. I picture myself in his or her shoes. I know exactly what's going on with them mentally and physically, and I feel sorry for them.

In seven years, no one I know has quit, although they saw me suffer through most of the diseases available to every cigarette/nicotine addict including two heart attacks (one while in chemo) two different types of lung cancer, a stroke, cardiac bypass surgery and an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

If you are here reading this and have even one hour under your belt with a quit, keep it. NTAP. You are already one hour closer to liberation than the next lucky addict who finds this site and its videos and makes that decision and commitment.

You are a rare and blessed individual, and you have a chance to make your life infinitely better in every way just by not doing what you're not doing right now. You were never meant to breathe smoke. Think on that... and "thank you for not smoking," as they say. Smiley em

Today marks three years of freedom and in addition to that I also received awesome news from the oncologist that the nodules in my lungs have not changed in those three years and he is confident that I am good to go.. life is good, could not have done it without the support from Turkeyville. Thank you all!

I am two years 5 months quit cold turkey from a pack a day. Those of you who have just quit, it can be done and I am proof enough. Even my family could not believe I could do it. My skin looks beautiful, clear skin and I smell nice now. Not another puff, nicotine stays on the outside. I could not have done it if I was not in this group so turkeys thank you for your help.

In September it will be 5 years for me, and I could not be happier! It is so wonderful to be free of that insidious addiction. I could not have quit without Turkeyville. Thank you one and all. I am eternally grateful.

Oh, geez! I almost forgot. I'm 17 years quit today. Woke up 17 years ago and just decided to quit. Had quit unsuccessfully many times before. This time, about a week in, I was searching on the internet and found "Freedom From Tobacco" which was a Microsoft group/forum. So long ago that Joel was still writing new posts. LOL!

John R. Polito and Joel Spitzer are the backbone of what was Freedom From Tobacco and what was and is "WhyQuit". Joanne and Linda were also instrumental in the early days. Lot of interesting stories there, I'm sure.

Anyway, I immersed myself in learning about my/our addiction to nicotine. It helped me quit. I had a very hard time quitting in that I kept thinking about it for months. Reading and educating myself and participating in the group helped.

Steve's bike

After a year or so I finally got comfortable in my quit. Hopefully, it won't take you so long but if it does, it's worth it, for sure. Read, read, and read. The things Joel and John and others wrote are just as true today as then. Remember that those who NTAP will never, ever, relapse.

I tried to quit so many times and ways. I used all the same justifications over and over. It was never the right time....45 YEARS of excuses later I finally quit cold turkey with help from Turkeyville. Now I am 2 weeks from my 2 year nicotine free anniversary. You can do this. Please don't wait-- just do it. I will not smoke with you today heart
